Fallen Officer

It is a gloomy day here in St. Petersburg as we mourn yet another fallen officer who was shot and killed last night. This is the third officer to be killed in a matter of 30 days, in a city where no officer has been shot on duty in 31 years. Officer David S. Crawford, 46, was shot dead Monday night as he and another officer investigated a prowler report at a residence, according to the St. Petersburg Times. A massive manhunt is now underway for Crawford’s killer as many streets, schools, and businesses in the South side of St. Petersburg are shut down. It is a tragedy to say the least and we can only pray for his family as well as for ALL of the officers in the line of duty. We sincerely thank you for all that you do to keep our city safe.

On the scehdule today at the Sunshine Center:
9:30am - Basic Exercise
10:00am - Chorus Practice
10:30am - Everybody Wii Games
11:00am - Yoga
1:00pm - "Medicare/Medicaid Fraud"presented by Makeba Huntington-Symons from the Area Agency on Aging

Valentines Recap

Happy Friday everyone! What a busy week it has been around here at the Sunshine Center. Just to recap if you missed anything, Monday was our Valentines Spaghetti Luncheon which was a HUGE hit! With entertainment from Country Classics band and help from all of the excellent staff and volunteers, everything went off without a hitch. Also, a big thank you to ThinkDirect Marketing for your generous donation that made this event only $2.00 per person, and to Home Care for donating the delicious cake! We really appreciate everything that the community does to make the Sunshine Center run as smoothly as it does. We couldn't do it without you!
